A “Love Kills Cancer” SF fundraising event for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Not The Last Dance (a-thon), was conceptualized, planned, marketed and executed in only 2 months. Between myself and my best friends/co-creators, Jeel Marie Plenos and Stephanie Marilee Tucker (with the assistance of Micah Tolentino), our #LoveKillsCancer themed event, resulted in 300+ attendance, thousands of dollars in donations, and an accompanying original shirt design that exceeded 100% of sales in 13 days.
See how the whole thing went down by taking a look at our NTLD Event Timeline, below.
Also, if you are interested in more of my involvement with non-profit design, my work with The Reel Project – a non-profit organization committed to re-building the war-torn Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) – is detailed here.
JAN 4: Planning begins.
If there is something to be learned from loving someone until it hurts you, its that: LOVE KILLS
…CANCER.
I want you to love until it hurts.
____
We are in search of friends and family with the kind of stories that would motivate someone to dance for 3 HOURS, simply because it hurts to love. We want to witness the kind of love that will carry all of our participants to the finish. We want to turn your finish line into the one day that someone faced with cancer will wish for. We want those ‘in honor of’ glow bracelets bursting like shooting stars through a crowd.Aren’t you the least bit curious what your part in this could become? because you are needed.
____
Only a few more days until Not The Last Dance(a-thon). Have your story be a part of one unapologetic truth that night: LOVE KILLS CANCER.LOVE, Claire
